Nigerian man jailed in the UK for raping a woman in her own home

A Nigerian night club bouncer has been jailed for seven years in the UK for raping a woman in her own home. Idreez Popoola (pictured above), who twice dodged deportation, brutally attacked his victim on 29th December 2012, eleven months after he successful appealed his deportation ruling.

Prosecutors said Popoola met his victim while working as an agency-employed bouncer outside Bar So in Northampton town centre. He took her out for drinks then managed to convince the woman to take him back to her home. It was in her home that he attacked her.

Popoola, 34, was jailed for seven years at a court in Northampton on October 18. He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for life. The court told him he would be automatically deported back to Nigeria on his release from prison.

Enugu state First Lady begs human rights groups to release her from house arrest imposed by her husband

This is a strange report. Found it on Sahara Reporters....read below....
Clara Chime, the First Lady of Enugu State, says Gov. Sullivan Chime, has placed her under house arrest, and has cried out for assistance to human rights bodies to rescue her.
In a letter dripping with pain and suffering, Mrs. Chime (pictured above with Governor Chime) disclosed that she married Mr. Chime in Oct. 2008 but that she has been unable to share the matrimonial bed with him for over four years. Describing her desperate situation, she said that even President Goodluck Jonathan and First Lady Patience Jonathan have intervened with her husband without success.
“My father is late, my Mum and few of my siblings are confused and have done all kinds of prayers they know of, 3 of my siblings prefers me dead than to see me leave the Government house.  He treats my Mum and my siblings bad,” she wrote.

The Enugu State First Lady said she has been introduced to two psychiatrists whose names she gave as Dr. Onwukwe and Dr. Agumo, who have prescribed “all kinds of drugs that ends up keeping me acute depressed and also drives me into hallucinations.”
The doctors, she noted, are scared of her husband the Governor, to whom nobody can tell the truth.
According to the letter, the Catholic Bishop of Enugu state (Callistus Onaga), and top priests have come to intervene, as have the President and the First Lady of the nation, without success.
Mrs. Chime further complains that Governor Chime has ordered her to leave with her four-year old son whom she conceived before their wedding.  However, the governor, according to her, later threatened to disown the boy should she leave with him.
“He has told everyone he can reach that there is no marriage between us that I can leave if I wish to but whenever I plan to leave he instructs them to lock me in.  I have told him through Sms that I will leave my son behind and leave alone but still he instructed
his securities to lock me inside the house.”
Mrs. Chime further complains she has lost touch with the real world and all that makes her beautiful because of the side effects of the drugs she is taking, stressing that she is under house arrest for committing no crime.
Of the situation in Government House, she said, “He does not take care of me personally, the government gives me allowance to run the house and that's where I save little from to take care of my elf, my Mum and few of my siblings,” she said in the letter.  He shut me out of his life years ago; I don't have access to his apartment. The problem is enormous; I don't know where to start to explain from.”
She said that even the security detail in the lodge has resorted to praying for her, while the few that can be bought with money are taking advantage of the situation.
“Police and SS men have been instructed by Br Sullivan Chime to confine me in a place for a long time now against my wish [but] it is my wish to leave these premises,” she said, begging, “Please assist me to reach to the human rights and say to them to please come hastily and release me.”

11 strange men spotted in Chelsea staduim

A bit of news from the world of football...:-). 11 strange men in black robes (can you spot them in the pic above?) caused a stir at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge yesterday Sunday October 27th during the Chelsea vs Manchester City clash.
Goal.com reports that the hooded men, who had mysterious circles on their chest, were seen making curious synchronised movements at irregular intervals during Chelsea's 2-1 win, while they also stood in unison at random moments.
Situated three rows back from the corner flag at the Shed End, the gang could be clearly seen on TV cameras beaming pictures of the crunch fixture all across the world.
One Chelsea fan sat close to the mysterious guests was Robin Taylor, who said afterwards that he was slightly perturbed by their presence.

"We're used to a few different characters down at Chelsea, there was once even a guy brushing his teeth behind the bench at a game, but we've had nothing quite like this before," he said.

Chris Brown arrested for felony assault again

Chris Brown has got to take it easy before they lock him up for good. He was arrested this morning for felony assault after attacking a man outside a Washington DC hotel ...

From TMZ
Chris Brown was arrested in Washington D.C. this morning for felony assault after allegedly attacking a man outside a hotel ... TMZ has learned.
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... at around 4:30 AM Brown got into an argument with a man outside the W Hotel on K Street and allegedly punched him once in the face.  We're told the alleged victim never threw a punch.
The alleged victim tells TMZ ... he and a friend were hanging out at the W when they saw two woman about to take a picture with Brown. The victim -- who says he's not a Chris Brown fan -- says he and his buddy photo bombed the 2 woman and Chris went nuts, punching him in the face and breaking his nose.  He went to the hospital and says he may need surgery as early as tomorrow.
There's a different version of what happened. Find that after the cut...

Law enforcement sources and the alleged victim tell TMZ ... before striking the man, Chris said, "I'm not into this gay s**t, I'm into boxing."  After Chris punched the man, the fight was taken to the ground.

Sources connected with Chris tell TMZ ... the alleged victim is full of BS. He was NOT trying to take a pic with Chris ... he was trying to get on Chris' tour bus, and Brown was simply trying to stop a trespass.  The sources say before the incident the 2 girls tried to get on the bus but they were stopped, and that's when the victim and his friend made their move.

Law enforcement sources say Chris did not appear to be under the influence of anything.

Chris and his bodyguard -- who was also arrested -- will stay in jail today. Under DC law Brown can't get bail so he'll appear before a magistrate Monday, and until then he'll stay behind bars.

The alleged victim tells TMZ he doesn't understand why Brown was "so homophobic" to hurl such a slur.  And get this ... the victim says he would have accepted an apology at the scene, but now he will absolutely press charges -- and he's already hired a lawyer.

Brown is still on probation in the Rihanna beating case and this could be grounds for violating his probation -- which means he could be sentenced to prison for nearly 4 years ... worst case scenario for him.

Before the incident, Chris had been hosting a party (pic below) at the nearby Park and 14th nightclub.

son murders 70 year old mum

…Says ‘she attacked me first’
From Ngozi Uwujare
According to police sources, the deceased met death at the hands of her son when she insisted that the son pay up his father’s debt. The incident took place at Batagarawa Local Government in Katsina.
Narrating the incident to Sunday Sun, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Hurdi explained that the ugly incident happened on August 5, 2013 when Usman went to visit his mother, who had remarried following her divorce from Usman’s father.
On getting to his mother’s new home, Usman saw his mother quarrelling with her mate and he succeeded in separating the fight.
Later on, the deceased asked Usman if his father (the old husband) sent the money he owed her through him.
Usman instead told his mother that his father never owed her any money; and that he had not visited his father for sometime. From there, the deceased allegedly attacked the son who retaliated by axing the mother’s neck.
Speaking with Sunday Sun, Usman said he had confessed to the crime to the police. A divorcee himself, Usman said he had five children. “I divorced my wife because she loves to look at other men outside.”
Recalling the chilling account, Usman said after separating the fight between his late mother and her mate, that the co-wife had left “to prepare food for us, but my mother refused to eat the food.
“Instead my mother was asking me to pay the debts of my father. I told her that my father didn’t owe her any money. She didn’t take it easy with me. She started to attack me seriously and I went with annoyance and brought out my axe and hit her neck. She fell to the ground.”
Out of fear, Usman ran “to the farm to hide myself so that nobody can see me. Later I came out from the farm and discovered that my mother was actually dead.”
The policemen in Batagarawa subsequently arrested him. According to the police, he has confessed everything at the State CID, while he is being remanded at the Katsina state police headquarters for further interrogations.
CP Hurdi told the reporter that Usman would soon be charged to court to face the full weight of the law.

Wife stabs husband to death

Wife stabs husband to death

…During quarrel over proposed visit of mother-in-law from village
From TUNDE RAHEEM AkureA young couple’s union has ended tragically in Ondo with the 16-year-old wife stabbing his husband to death during an argument. The murder incident, which occurred last Monday at Omolere/Mobil area of Akure threw the metropolis into shock and disbelief.
The housewife and mother of two, Ebere Ogu stabbed her husband, Chinedu Patrick Ogu, 31, in the stomach during a squabble, which broke out over the proposed visit of the husband’s mother from the village.
The wife, it was learnt, had kicked against her husband’s move to invite his mother to Akure from his village in Imo State. The husband too was said to have insisted that his mother must be in Akure for medical treatment.
It was gathered that co-tenants had been used to the couple’s frequent fights, but Monday’s turned fatal, claiming a life.
Ebere, it was further gathered, abandoned her bleeding husband and ran away with her two kids to an unknown destination after stabbing him in the stomach, leaving the knife stuck in his stomach
A co-tenant who sought for anonymity said he had resolved disagreements involving the couple times on end before the last one that claimed the husband’s life.
According to the co-tenant whose room is next to the couple’s, the husband and wife had been quarrelling over the Patrick’s decision to invite his mother from his village to Akure for medical treatment, but Ebere maintained he would not have his way.
“They had been having issues over the plan by the husband to invite his mother from his village in Imo State to Akure for medical treatment and Ebere kicked against it. I tried to resolve it for three days before the incident that claimed Patrick’s life and I thought the woman had agreed to my pleas but the issue degenerated into violence.
“On this fateful morning when I got into their room I saw Ebere holding a knife against her husband so I pleaded with her to drop the knife and pleaded with the Patrick not to beat his wife.
“At the first attempt I succeeded in separating them so Ebere dropped the knife she was holding but as soon as Patrick saw that his wife had dropped the knife he seized the opportunity to pounce on her and gave her thorough beating and I quickly rushed back from my room when I heard Ebere screaming.
“And before I could enter their room the wife had grabbed the knife again and stabbed the husband and when I entered I was even blaming Patrick for beating the woman again. Then I noticed that Patrick was going down. Before I knew what was going on he had slumped. That was when I rushed out and screamed for help and called other members of the house. “When we entered their apartment we realised that Patrick was already on the floor so people began to urge Ebere to lift her husband up which she eventually did and we saw that the man was already bleeding.
“The people there were shocked and most of them took to their heels which gave Ebere the opportunity to escape with her two kids to an unknown destination.”
The incident, it was gathered, was later reported at the police station while the police and some residents of the area were said to have made futile efforts to track the fleeing wife.
The husband, it was learnt, was rushed to the Ondo State Specialist Hospital where doctors confirmed him dead.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Wole Ogodo, assistant superintendent of police (ASP) who confirmed the report, described it as pathetic and unfortunate.
Ogodo said it was the landlord who reported the incident to the police, adding that the police had since stepped into the matter.
He said the policemen dispatched to the scene found the victim dead, saying he died from the knife injury inflicted on him by his wife.
